Presentation Abstract
Multimedia traffic demands high bit rate and minimal delay. However, the uncertainty in channel availability and hostile environment in Cognitive Radio Networks (CRN) may limit the throughput of real-time applications. In CRN, channel availability is time varying and by continuous switching among different channels gives the continuity of communication; at the same time, CRN is not an interference free network. Thus delay is induced due to interference and continuous switching among different channels. On the other hand, high bit rate is susceptible to channel fading. To address the dynamics of a) time varying primary users traffic and b) fading channel, prediction based technique has been proposed to achieve efficient spectrum mobility.
