Vertical Handoff Management In Heterogeneous Wireless Networks |

Vertical handoff plays an important role in guaranteeing users to be always connected in the multinetwork-overlapped environment. During the vertical handoff procedure, handoff decision is the most important step that affects the normal working of communication. An incorrect handoff decision may degrade the QoS of traffic and even break off current communication. We introduce an efficient vertical handoff decision algorithm by considering an optimal set of QoS parameters with appropriate weights so that user satisfaction is effectively maximized. Also we will develop a real-time technique to estimate network QoS as efficient vertical handoff depends on the reliability of the estimation. Eventually, we will develop a novel service admission and reservation policies to maximize network utilization while meeting user satisfaction target in a heterogeneous network. |

Shusmita Anwar Sharna received her Master of Science and Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Applied Physics and Electronics from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2005 and 2003 respectively. Before commencing her PhD degree at Monash University in middle 2008, she worked as a senior lecturer in Daffodil International University, Bangladesh. Her research interests are in Vertical Handoff of Heterogeneous Network. |
