I submitted the assignment at 10:30 PM on the due date but WebFace records the submission as being at 11:45 PM AEST

The time which is stamped on a WebFace submission is the time it arrives at the WebFace server and is processed, mail delays along the route of your email (eg. delays at your ISP's sendmail server) and load on the server will cause this to be different from the time you sent the email submission - consequently always try and leave some leeway.
