Open a web browser and open the following URL: http://gus.gscit.monash.edu.au/~pgauth/
or, for better privacy: https://gus.gscit.monash.edu.au/~pgauth/
and enter your AuthCate login name and password.
Once your account has been created you can log into gus using the SSH protocol (for Microsoft Windows platforms we recommend running PuTTY http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/
which should be on the ITS Computer Resources 2005 CD available from Monash's ITS, or may be downloaded directly from: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
if you prefer. You will need to use your AuthCate login name and password each time you log into gus.
Please note that this is an experimental system, not a full production system. This means that there may be unscheduled times when this system is not available, and it also means that potentially files you store on this system may be lost. You should keep separate copies of all important files you store on gus!
